Panasonic Lumix FZ50
I always wanted to own an advanced digital camera. I have been thinking for a while and I have been annoying some of my friends (Chris, Sailesh and Amir) who are really good at photography. Finally I decided to purchase Panasonic Lumix FZ50 (goldcoster’s Lumix review helped me make a decision too). I ordered the camera couple of days back and now I have it in my hands! I’m more excited to try it out, so wait for more detailed review!

With new camera coming in I’m planning to start a photo blog of my own. Now I’m looking for better platform for photo blogging. I’m currently trying to setup WordPress + Flickr photo blog. If you have any better suggestion for the photo blogging platform, please suggest me.
BTW, now I’m a proud owner of Lumix camera!

I guess I won’t be reluctant later for getting this camera. I’m waiting for you post! Even a good photolog theme for WordPress would be great help.

Awesome Benedict! And take it from someone who knows, you made the right choice by going with the Lumix DMC-FZ50. Leica lenses are definitely the cream of the crop.
And you’re really gong to like how the lens hood prevents glare and lens flare. Btw, did you get black or silver?
Can’t wait to see some of your pics!
Shine on,
Aaron

Problem with FZ50, For no reason, Locks up with message, Digital Chip Error, Check your inserted chip, Cannot unlock, tried others, same problem, transfer chip to another camera and it works fine.

I have had a 50 for a month or so and am delighted with it.
Am looking for a flashgun and I’m told the Olympus FL series fits the 50 perfectly. Anyone had experience of this please?
Ooooops. The Olympus flashes don’t work. I bought a Panasonic flash Lumix DMW FL360. Works well.

Have had my Lumix now for more than 6 months. Only problem I can see is noise when you go beyond 400ASA (please excuse the old measure).

Al Stillman – I guess that is more specific problem with your camera. hope it is not a general complaint.
Garry Raffaele – I didn’t have any problem with Flash. I had a old Vivitar flash and it worked seamlessly. I agree with the noise before 400 ISO levels.

If you’re talking about the noise problem, fraid it’s general. Every review I’ve read has been critical of noise in the upper reaches.
