The NFL season is here

After a wait that seemed even longer than usual, thanks to the prolonged lockout of the league, the NFL season is finally kicking off this Thursday! This means that, if you haven’t done so already, it’s time to update your cable package to include NFL Sunday Ticket, so that you can catch absolutely all of the action this year. With this sort of expanded NFL cable package, you will never miss a game, meaning that you can cheer your team on from game 1 through the playoffs. Here are a few words on some of the match-ups kicking off the season this week:

On Thursday, the season will officially kick off with, as is traditional, a Super Bowl rematch featuring the New Orleans Saints at the Green Bay Packers. This year, this match-up is particularly intriguing, as it features not only last season’s two finalists, but also the past two Super Bowl champions. Watch as Drew Brees and the Saints try to get off to a hot start against the young, talented and confident defending champion Packers.

Another very intriguing match-up for a lot of fans is one between the Philadelphia Eagles and the St. Louis Rams. While the game could and should be relatively lopsided in favor of the Eagles, many fans are extremely curious to see Philadelphia play following the acquisition of a number of talented and exciting players during the offseason. While some analysts argue that the Eagles will need time to gel with their new players, many fans are picking them as an early Super Bowl favorite.

The first weekend also includes an intense rivalry game, with the Pittsburgh Steelers visiting the Baltimore Ravens. Not only are these two tough teams rivals, but they will also be vying against one another for playoff contention this year, and most would say that each team has at least an outside shot at the Super Bowl. This should be a fun one to watch, and should provide some early indications of which team will be better this year.

Of course, in the first weekend just about every game is exciting to watch. Fans want to see their teams return to action, and people are excited to see rookie players, or players who have switched teams. On top of all that, there is also the simple, raw excitement of watching professional football for the first time in half a year. Do yourself a favor and be a part of all the action by setting yourself up with the best television package possible.
