After trying all the adsense plugins, I recommend Shylock Adsense. It is easy to use like Adsense Injection, but is much more flexible. The only drawback is that the guy offering it isn't a coder, he had someone do it for him, so he won't be maintaining it. A problem if a future version of WP breaks it.

Tech Rant – I may not fully agree on that. I haven’t used the download plugins in my site yet. But when I did a quick search at the WordPress plugins database for the term download. It returned me couple and more plugins to manage the downloads. May be you didn’t have a chance yet. http://guff.szub.net/2005/04/28/download-manager/ here is a one of them. May be you can give a try.!

I agree with that part WordPress can’t be a complete CMS like Joomla. Joomla and others includes lot of modules which can’t be incorporated directly in WordPress.

Askimet is what saves most of my time! Yes, Adsense Delexue is one of the options there are also plenty of others

WordPress lacks downloads

Bah, no matter where I look I can’t find a downloads module for WordPress. I agree WordPress is a very nice piece of software, it’s just missing features which would make it a complete CMS (such as Postnuke or Joomla.)

I love Askimet! Thanks to that plugin I can turn unregistered comments back on! Adsense deluxe sounds useful, I had to edit the themes to get adsense running in postnuke, I wouldn’t be surprised to find it easier in WordPress.

Less number of comment limit for link love does mean that you’re encouraging SPAM; if you have a well moderated commenting system. For me each and every comment is valuable and everyone who comment will receive the link love as part of it. To encourage more comments we have the Top Commenter plugin that will spread the link love from all the pages.

Some great plugins listed here that I don’t have yet. Thanks for your list , Ben, and for those listed by some of the others too.

Is there an opinion here in regard to an immediate DoFollow versus the Love which requires 10 comments, unless you change it. I have mine set at 5. I guess the point is not to reward spam? But 10 seems like a lot to me.

Dofollow is a very useful plugin indeed to encourage comments on your blogs. Also, I use the NiceAdmin plugin to make the admin area look better.

I chucked out hello dolly a long time back. The google xml sitemaps by arne brachhold is also a very useful plugin
