VLC media player does not support surround sound or at least early versions like 0.8.6i don’t I had to re edit my AVI vids in stereo then it works fine, also the later versions 10 and upwards cannot easily???? I still can’t save playlists ,I had to re install an earlier version to do so. The VLC techs need to look into this ,still it’s better than windows media player any day by far.

I love the old movies on archive.org but cannot get them to play on my VLC Player. When I bring up File and try to drag and drop ogg (movie) into it, both the player and the file box minimize. How can I get it to stay up long enough to drag and drop ogg video into the box? I was doing it just fine with the old VLC Player, but after downloading the new VLC Player I can’t get it to open up for me.

i believe vlc is the best media player around cuz it runs most of the formats in good quality and perfect sound but it still needs more upgrading especially for supporting real media format(RM) but it still better than media classic , real player and any other useless players

Hey guys, I just recently found out about vlc when I downloaded it for my mac. When I tried to play videos online, my default player was itunes. How do I change it to vlc? I really need help because I’m one of those know-nothing-about-computers type. Anyway, if someone could tell me step-by-step, if you please, how to view my videos on vlc, i’d be eternally grateful…thanks!

I’m using VLC media player with vista. The transfered AVI files from DVD have been ripped using the same programme however some will not play the audio track when widows media player does. I would prefer to use VLC does anyone have a solution

i’ve been using VLC for a while now stopped using most of the rest video players i had around it isn’t the best player around but it’s by far the most handy. The interface yes can get improved at least on the windows side, i also use VLC for mac and the interface is beautifully streamlined and very nice.

While VLC doesn't have as nice an interface as Quicktime, you can't beat it's compatibility. It's a great piece of free software.

T.Evans – we are glad to help you you can't directly play youtube or any online videos directly using VLC player. you have to download those videos into your computer using certain online tools available like vConvert. After downloading the videos you can use to play the content! have fun.!

Newbie here:
I am not computer literate, so what I need to know is probably so simple to you computer experts. I just downloaded the vlc player, but I can't figure out how to download videos and movies into the vlc player. i.e., Youtube videos, or online movies, how do I get them to play in the vlc player since most sites have their own players, i.e. media player. Please help.

Tech Rant – VLC is not either my favorite player I used it for the purpose! I don’t have any favorite player yet. I used to switch between players time to time. As lot of people are talking about Media Player I may give a try!

I've always used VLC as a backup player, it just doesn't seem to do everything I need to be my main player. I do agree, everytime you throw a file at it, the program will play it. I currently use Media Player Classic alongside FFD Show as my main program for video/music.
